Give a gift that supports an organization that has been working to protect the local environment since 1966, the Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA). Gift ideas from PWA start as low as 75 cents. They include postcards of the PWA preserves, PWA loon-logo items (jewelry, sweatshirts, tee-shirts, tote bags, ball caps, magnets, pins, hiking medallions and ornaments), wildlife or beach-themed note cards featuring drawings by local artists, and more. There are maps of Pemaquid Pond and of the entire Pemaquid Peninsula. For only $20, there are handmade walking sticks in varnished maple or cherry, made from fallen branches on PWA nature preserves, which PWA can cut to fit the height of the hiker. Each walking stick has a leather wrist holder, rubber tip, and is embellished with an embossed metal PWA hiking medallion. For the outdoor enthusiast, there are the “On the Trail” book ($15), the “Midcoast Trails” book ($10), Coastal Public Access Guide ($8), and a PWA Hike and Paddle Pocket Guide ($2). The Pocket Guide makes a great stocking stuffer, as it folds to a handy 3.5 by 5.5” and opens to a double-sided 11×14” full-color pamphlet that features information about PWA’s nature preserves and about paddling the Pemaquid River, including driving directions to the preserves and to the major put-in sites along the River. For original art, check out the current art exhibit at PWA by Polly Steadman, who is donating 40% of sales to PWA. Click on the following link to visit our merchandise page merchandise.
