Washington’s Birthday starts a new showcase of fine art at Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) featuring the works of Audrey Bechler. PWA is hosting a reception for Bechler on Friday, March 4, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at their office suite, which is located in downtown Damariscotta above Salt Bay Café. All are invited to attend this free, casual event and enjoy refreshments while experiencing the exhibit.
Bechler, trained at the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston, is a renowned artist and teacher in all media who focuses on capturing the beauty of the Maine landscape. Her paintings show a world in harmony and serve as reminders that what is natural and vibrant still lives within our beings. “My paintings are a joyful expression of creativity, spontaneous expressions that relate how I feel about something outside in the visible world or inside in the world of ideas and feelings,” Bechler said. ” Through my eyes I have been able to observe nature, to marvel at its creation to see color and beauty in all things. To observe man, interact with man. To see the genius of man as a creator himself; to see the love, joy, hate and sorrow that man can express.”
To experience this exhibit, which will be on display through April 1, visit PWA’s office weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bechler is donating a portion of the proceeds from exhibit sales to support PWA’s mission of conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula through land and water stewardship and education.
