Thanks to the expert wood craftsmanship of an anonymous local artist, Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) offers handmade walking sticks in varnished maple or cherry, made from fallen branches on PWA nature preserves. Each walking stick has a leather wrist holder, rubber tip, and is embellished with an embossed metal PWA hiking medallion. If needed, PWA will cut the stick to tailor it to the hiker’s preference. The walking stick is available for only $21.00, which includes sales tax. The hiking medallions are available for sale separately for $3.00.

To peruse the selection of one-of-a-kind walking sticks, visit the PWA office above Salt Bay Café in Damariscotta. The office is open weekdays from 9:00-5:00. Proceeds from the sale of the walking sticks benefit Pemaquid Watershed Association, which is a volunteer-based, membership-supported non-profit organization whose mission is to conserve the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula through land and water stewardship and education.
