Wednesday, March 26: MidCoast Stewards Recruitment Reception 5:30-7:00 p.m.
at the Damariscotta River Grill. The Maine Coastal Program, in partnership with the
Damariscotta River Association, will once again present the Midcoast
Stewards program, which is chock full of training sessions, instructional
lectures, and site visits exposing participants to a host of volunteer
opportunities in the midcoast region. The recruitment reception will
introduce potential participants to past participants and will present
information on the 2008 schedule and how to sign-up. For more information

Tuesday, April 1: Julie Babb Art Exhibit Reception 4:30-5:30 p.m. To view the exhibit, visit the PWA office from 9:30 a.m.–4:30
p.m. weekdays.
Thursday, April 10: Two Rivers Community Jam from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the
Waldo Theatre Annex in Waldoboro. The PWA and Medomak Valley Land Trust
invite you to an improv-music-making evening in celebration of the bounty
and beauty of the Pemaquid and Medomak Rivers. Everyone who enjoys making
joyful noise, either with their voice or musical instrument, is invited to
this Cabin-Fever-Reliever event. Listeners and dancers also are welcome!
Admission is free, although donations will be accepted and split between the
two land trusts.
Saturday, April 12: Julie Babb Encore Presentation: Bird Drawing Workshop
10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in the PWA Office.
Friday, April 18-19: CLC YMCA Sustainable Energy Expo. We'll staff a booth and work
with students from Great Salt Bay school on how the environment benefits from limiting our energy
consumption. More information at the Midcoast Green Collaborative website.
Saturday, April 19: Duckpuddle Pond Watershed Survey field crew. We will
meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Nobleboro Town Office at 192 Rte 1 for a morning of
training and then go into the field to look for sources of pollution. To

This is a collaborative project with the Knox-Lincoln Soil and Water
Conservation District and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day! Join a trail crew at the Crooked Farm
Preserve. Meet at the parking area at 8:30 a.m.
April 27–May 3 is National Volunteer Week:
Sunday, April 27: Join us on the afternoon of Sunday, April 27, to kick off
National Volunteer week with a trail cleanup at the Bearce-Allen Preserve.
Meet at the parking area at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 3: Join us on the morning of Saturday, May 3, to close out
National Volunteer Week with a trail crew at the Osborn Finch Wildlife
Sanctuary. Meet at the roadside grassy parking area at 8:30 a.m.
May 15–October 31: Osborn Finch Cabin is open for guests. On the Osborn Finch Wildlife
Sanctuary, Dutch Neck,
Waldoboro, this rustic and cozy cabin setting provides
300 feet of tidal frontage on the Medomak River, perfect for kayaking. The
cost is $50/night, with a 2-night minimum stay. Call or email PWA to reserve
dates for your summer respite!
Saturday, May 17: Trail crew at Bass Rock Preserve Meet at the preserve at
8:30 a.m.
Monday, May 19–June 30: Emrich Art Exhibit at Pemaquid Watershed Association's
office, with a portion of all sales benefitting the PWA. To view the exhibit, visit the PWA office from 9:30–4:30
weekdays.
Saturday, May 31: Courtesy Boat Inspection (CBI) Training from 9:00-11:00 a.m at
the Nobleboro Town Office. This is an opportunity to learn how to be part of
the front-line educational effort to keep milfoil and other invasive plant
species out of our ponds and lakes. This training is free and is mandatory
for anyone who wants to be a CBI. Held in conjunction with DLWA.
Saturday, June 7 is National Trails Day: Meet at the La Verna Preserve parking
area at 8:30 a.m. for a morning of trail maintenance.
Friday, June 13: Party on the Pier at the Contented Sole in New Harbor from
5:00–8:00 p.m. Both silent and live auctions, great food, great music and great
company combine in this fantastic event to raise funds in support of the PWA
mission.
Tuesday, July 1: Trail crew at the Doyle Preserve. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the
parking area. Doyle Preserve is sponsored by The First.
Tuesday, July 1–August 31: Beachcombers' Rest Nature Center at Pemaquid Beach opens daily
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through August. Stop in and experience our ecology
activities and interactive displays, or sign up for one of our amazing
Wednesday Workshops from 10:00 a.m. to noon (topics vary week to week).
Touch Tank on Thursdays from 11:00 to 2:00. Fridays feature interpretive
beach walks; check at the beach for dates and times.
Friday, July 4: Fourth Annual Rubber Ducky River Race. Start time tentatively 2:35 p.m..
Best view for the race is the finish line, which is the
Damariscotta/Newcastle bridge. To sponsor a ducky, to volunteer at the race,
or if you would like to donate a prize, please contact the PWA office (563-2196).
Monday, July 7–18: PWA Watershed Kids™ Nature Day Camp — Two six-day sessions of
camp for children
ages 6–12.
Saturday, July 19: PWA's Annual Meeting at the Willing Worker's hall in New
Harbor. Everyone is welcome. Potluck starts at 5:30 p.m.; business meeting
6:15–6:45; Guest Speaker 6:45-7:30.
Wednesday, July 23–28: Wabanaki Days: This six-day event will feature Native American cultural ceremonies, historic re-enactments and docu-drama, turtle shell rattle and flute making demonstrations, a potluck of Native American foods, storytelling by the campfire, face painting, sea kayaking, musical performances, speakers addressing Native American tools and gardening, beading workshops and canoe building instruction. Saturday, July 26: PWA’s Fifth Annual Native American Recognition Celebration,
rain or shine, will be held at Pemaquid Beach. The evening events will begin
at 5:00 p.m. with a potluck meal of traditional foods, such as corn, clams,
beans, nuts and berries. Come learn about and commemorate our region’s rich
cultural roots. Music, storytelling, demonstrations, and authentic ceremony
make this an event to experience with the whole family. This is a
collaborative program with the Bristol Parks and Recreation Commission.
