Planned Giving

Long-range charitable gift arrangements are commonly referred to as “planned gifts.” Planned giving aids the Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) in accomplishing its mission to conserve the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula and is a way that people create significant and deep meaning in their lives. Creating a legacy that future generations can appreciate provides a powerful example of “giving back.” With financial and tax planning, your gift may also provide benefits for you and your family.

Planned gifts help ensure our continued work to protect the land, water, and wildlife of the Pemaquid Peninsula for future generations.

Please consider including PWA in your will or trust. The process to name PWA in your will is quite simple. You will want to work with your financial advisor to formalize it, but there typically is a simple codicil paragraph that can be included in a will or trust document to make a bequest to PWA, such as:

  • A specific bequest:  “I devise and bequeath to Pemaquid Watershed Association, Inc., a nonprofit corporation currently located at 15 Courtyard Street, Damariscotta, ME, 04543, the sum of $________(or, _______% of my estate) to be used to support the charitable activities of Pemaquid Watershed Association, Inc., for the protection of the environment of the Pemaquid Peninsula of Maine.”
  • A residuary bequest:  “I devise and bequeath to Pemaquid Watershed Association, Inc., a nonprofit corporation currently located at 15 Courtyard Street, Damariscotta, ME, 04543, all (or specify _______%) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to be used to support the charitable activities of Pemaquid Watershed Association, Inc., for the protection of the environment of the Pemaquid Peninsula of Maine”

If you intend to make a bequest to PWA, we ask that you complete the Legacy Society Intent Form for our records. Completion of this form does not legally bind you to a bequest; it simply provides PWA with the information we need to add you to the Pemaquid Watershed Legacy Society.

Please let us know how we can help. Your investment in our future will help protect what you love about the Pemaquid Peninsula.
