After a lengthy design process, the new Lovell Designs jewelry in the Pro Arte style created from the beautiful Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) loon logo is ready for début, just in time to celebrate PWA’s 50th anniversary.
Ken Kantro, owner and designer at Lovell Designs and formerly of Damariscotta, took the loon logo to create the new pieces of jewelry especially for PWA. The image is of the loon on the water taken from the original logo designed by Mary Beth Owens with a beautiful sunset behind the loon from a photograph by Kim Skillin Traina. PWA is very happy to offer the new logo jewelry for sale now to launch the 50th anniversary celebration.
PWA originated from the Biscay Pond Association which was formed in 1966 by a group of residents concerned about a proposed land development project that threatened the quality of the pond’s water and the beauty of the area. Membership grew in response to the interests and concerns of landowners around many of the other ponds in the region and in 1973 the name of the organization was changed to Pemaquid Watershed Association to reflect the expanded geographic scope. PWA’s service area now encompasses the entire peninsula but the focus remains on the 47 square miles of the Pemaquid River watershed, which begins at Tobias Pond in Nobleboro and empties into John’s Bay in Bristol. The watershed encompasses parts of the towns of Nobleboro, Waldoboro, Damariscotta, Bremen, Bristol, and South Bristol.
Show PWA pride by wearing the iconic PWA loon logo. The jewelry is available as pins, drop earrings, as small pendants and large pendants (chain not included), in either a gold plate or silver finish and in either a round or oval shape. The small pendants, approximately 1 inch high or in diameter, are $29 and with Maine state sales tax the total is $30.60. All the other items are $39 each and with the tax totals $41.15 each. The oval or round drop earrings are almost 1 inch and the large oval pieces are 1.5 inch high and the round pins or pedants are 1.25 inch in diameter.
