Damariscotta artist Polly Steadman will showcase her paintings at the Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) office gallery in downtown Damariscotta from November 16 to the end of the year in an exhibit entitled, “Moonstruck”. The Association invites the public to a reception for Steadman from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 20.
Steadman’s technique is all about blending of oil colors in a “wet-on-wet” process, where the brushstrokes may be long and strong or short, light and quick. As the composition, usually unplanned at the outset, takes shape and the paint sets up, forms and themes emerge on the canvas. Then her artist’s eye guides the flow of the design to the finished work that is a unique convergence of intellect and emotion. She finds the process itself exciting and liberating and each time an exploration into the unknown.
To view the exhibit, visit the Association’s office from 9:30-4:30 weekdays, located at 15 Courtyard Street, above Salt Bay Café in downtown Damariscotta. Steadman is giving 40% of sales to support the PWA mission of conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula.
