PADDLE TO THE WHITE ISLANDS

On Sunday (note previous change from Saturday) September 13 at 10 AM, the Pemaquid Watershed Association PWA Paddlers will be paddling to the White Islands from Ocean Point, East Boothbay. Please arrive at the launch site 20 minutes prior. Advisory: this trip involves OPEN OCEAN paddling and is only suitable for experienced paddlers with sea kayaks.

Directions: From Damariscotta take Route 27 South from Route 1 South toward Boothbay/Boothbay Harbor for approx. 11 miles to Route 96 (Ocean Point Road) on your left in Boothbay Harbor. Follow Route 96 to its end at the beach where we will put-in; parking will on your left prior to the beach. Unload you kayak/gear at the beach first. The duration of the paddle will be 3 1/2 hours. There is no public rest room and we will be unable to put-in at the Islands. Bring lunch and plenty of water. The paddle leader will be Diane Gilman.

All paddles are free and open to the public. Paddlers must supply their own kayak or canoe, wear a life jacket and bring or have on file a standard release form which is available at PWA’s website or from the paddle leader. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The paddle will be canceled in the event of rain, fog, thunder activity or small craft warnings. the entire 2015 schedule is posted on our website calendar, or you may contact Peter Lawrence 563-3104 or paddlers@pemaquidwatershed.org.
