PEMAQUID WATERSHED ASSOCIATION RECEIVES $2400 GRANT

Pemaquid Watershed Association (PWA) recently received a $2,400 grant from the Saxifrage Opportunity Grants Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to support innovations. This grant will enable PWA to put the finishing touches on its new web site www.pemaquidwatershed.org

The addition of state-of-the-art technological features and extensive search engine optimization will make PWA’s web site as useful as possible. QR code technology, which basically is like bar code scanning, will enable preserve visitors to use their mobile device to rapidly access trail maps. An RSS feed will be added to PWA’s web site to make it easy for people to follow the news posted at the site. Social media will be more fully integrated, including a Twitter feed and a Tumblr blog, and a countdown clock will be added at the website’s home page for major events.

Pemaquid Watershed Association was founded in 1966 by a group of neighbors on Biscay Pond. Today PWA thrives with over 1,070 members who believe in its mission of conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula. With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation (MCF) works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. For more information on MCF, visit www.mainecf.org. PWA is very grateful for MCF’s support.
