On Saturday 5/28, at 10 AM, the Pemaquid Watershed Association Paddlers will paddle the Woolwich Marsh from the Robert E. DeWick Recreation Area while on Wednesday 6/1, at 10 AM, PWA will repeat their prior paddle on the Pemaquid River from Bristol Mills to Biscay Pond. Please arrive 20 minutes prior all paddles.
Directions for the Woolwich Marsh 5/28 Saturday paddle: From Damariscotta travel Route 1 South past the blinking light at the Woolwich Fire Station/Nequasset Road for another 1/8th mile. Take the second entrance (on left further south) onto George Wright Road (before the Taste of Maine restaurant). The put in and parking area is on your immediate right. The duration of the paddle will be about 2 hours; no public rest room; optional lunch at the Montsweag Roadhouse restaurant.
Directions for the Pemaquid River 6/1 Wednesday paddle: From Damariscotta take Route 129/130 South. At Hanley’s Market Routes 129 & 130 split. Stay on Route 130 for 5.5 miles to the Bristol Mills boat launch on your left (just before the swimming hole and dam). The duration of the paddle will be 2 hours; public porta-potty and optional launch at Deb’s Bristol Diner.
All paddles are free and open to the public. Paddlers must supply their own kayak or canoe and wear life jacket. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All paddlers participating in PWA trips are responsible for their own safety and should determine in advance if conditions and destinations are suitable for their skill level. All paddlers must have a written release on file with PWA or complete one at the time of the paddle. Releases may be obtained at the PWA web site or from the paddle leader. The paddle will be cancelled in the event of rain.
