PWA Paddlers Launch into 2015 Season

For those new to kayaking or canoeing who would enjoy the comfort of paddling with a seasoned group, or for those experienced paddlers looking for new adventures and to meet fellow enthusiasts, Pemaquid Watershed Association’s “PWA Paddlers” is ideal.  For the 11th year, the PWA Paddlers will lead paddling trips throughout midcoast Maine. This year there are 31 trips planned, which is more than ever before due to the addition of more saltwater paddles.  The trips occur every Saturday morning starting May 23 through September 26, with an occasional mid-week outing.  Participation is free (except for the occasional launch-site fee), and all paddles are open to the public.

Trips are designed to be easy to moderate in difficulty and will be cancelled if raining.  All paddlers participating in PWA trips are responsible for their own safety and each participant should determine in advance if conditions, and the venue, are suitable for their skill level. Participants must provide their own kayak or canoe, wear a personal flotation device (aka life jacket), and submit a standard release form to PWA prior to participation. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  Most trips begin at 10:00 a.m. and last about two to three hours; participants are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the launch time. The first PWA Paddle this season will take place on Saturday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. and will explore the lovely Pemaquid River from Bristol Mills to Biscay Pond.  For more details and the full schedule of 2015 trips, visit the PWA web site,
